First established in 1992 Gillian Macfarlane opened the first store in Harrogate, North Yorkshire the company now operates 30 stores across the United Kingdom and an international ecommerce website.
Since its establishment, the company has been recognised with industry awards. Including the Sunday Times Fast Track of Britain's private companies with the fastest growing sales. In 2017, the company won three awards in the highly acclaimed Running awards. Including Gold for the Best National Retailer, Silver for Customer Service, and Bronze for Online Retailer.
Up & Running has club and professional athletes working in the head office and its stores. The company owns its own high performance-running brand Sub4. All Up & Running stores host local free weekly runs for beginners offering free advice and tips. All Up & Running stores have a specialised gait analysis lab to accurately advise on the right running shoes for each individual.
